Montpelier Bike and Pedestrian Plan

The Montpelier Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan outlines the City’s vision to create a safe, connected, and inviting network of sidewalks, trails, and bike routes that supports walking and biking for people of all ages and abilities. By improving access to parks, recreation, healthy food, services, and everyday destinations, the plan promotes healthier lifestyles while enhancing Montpelier’s small-town charm and overall quality of life. Building on the city’s scenic beauty and strong connection to outdoor experiences, the plan recognizes that high-quality biking and walking infrastructure not only provides recreation, but also boosts tourism, supports community events and clubs, attracts new residents, and strengthens long-term economic vitality. Serving as a roadmap for future investment, the plan reflects community priorities and provides actionable strategies and key projects to improve accessibility, mobility, convenience, and safety for both residents and visitors, now and for future generations.
