Hartford City Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan

Hartford City’s Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan provides a clear playbook for creating a safer, healthier, and more connected community by investing in well-designed walking and biking infrastructure. The plan reimagines streets as shared public spaces that support all users, not just vehicles, while strengthening connections between neighborhoods and key destinations such as local schools, parks, healthcare facilities, the public library, and commercial areas along North Walnut Street. By expanding a coordinated network of sidewalks, trails, and bike routes, the plan supports residents of all ages, from students walking to school to seniors accessing essential services, while reducing reliance on cars for short trips. Together, these improvements aim to enhance accessibility, encourage active lifestyles, build community pride, and create a lasting legacy of connectivity for future generations.
